GEORGIOS FLOROS

Georgios Floros is a retired Vice Admiral of the Hellenic Navy and former Honorable Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, with more than four decades of service across operational command, intelligence, defence policy, and strategic planning. He has commanded surface naval units at sea and held senior leadership positions including Commander of the Frigates Command, Director of Naval Operations, and Director of the National Joint Operations Centre, gaining first-hand experience in real-world crisis management and joint operations. His career includes deep involvement in NATO and EU multi-domain operations, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary maritime security challenges, interoperability, and coalition warfare. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, combining technical expertise with operational and strategic insight. Beyond his military career, he is a lifelong gamer with hands-on experience in creating 3D naval models for simulators such as Virtual Sailor. He is a strong advocate of advanced wargaming and simulation as tools for defence education, operational planning, and analytical decision support, and actively promotes the bridge between professional military expertise and the commercial wargaming ecosystem.
